Kathmandu, Nov 21 : Three Star Club started the Martyrs’ Memorial A Division League on a winning note following their 3-0 thrashing over Chyasal Youth Club at Dasarath Stadium on Saturday.
Nishan Khadka, Raphael Bidias Rim and Anant Tamang scored to help Three Star earn the three points in their first match of the league. 

Three times league champion Three Star Club opened the scoring in the 22nd minute. Nishan’s free-kick from 30-yard distance kissed the back of the net not giving any chance to Chyasal keeper Pradeep Bhandari. After Yannik fouled Sanjog Rai, Three Star was awarded a free-kick. 

Chyasal wasted the penalty in the 26th minute as their Italian forward Bikash Meraglia’s spot-kick was foiled by Three Star goalie Prisoo. Chyasal were awarded a penalty after defender Anant brought down Bikash in the box.

Three Star doubled the lead as Rim headed the free-kick ball off Hemant Thapa Magar into the post in the 44th minute.
After the break, Three Star extended the scoreline 3-0. Hemant’s corner-kick this time found Anant, who headed the ball into the post to put Three Star at the top of the league standings.   

Himalayan hold Sankata
Sankata squandered the lead to play a 1-1 draw with the Himalayan Sherpa Club in their first match of the first division league.
After playing a goalless stalemate in the first half, Sankata broke the deadlock in the 60th minute. Laxman Ruchal scored the drop ball after Himalayan goalie Dip Karki could not grasp the cross-ball off Subash Gurung. Ruchal became the first player to score the first goal in this season’s league. 

Sankata’s lead did not last long as Himalayan found the equaliser four minutes later from the goal of Tridev Gurung. Jeevan Gurung provided the cross to Tridev, who nodded it into the top corner for the goal.

Sankata squandered the two excellent opportunities in succession in the 84t minutes as Ganesh Hamal hit the crossbar and Ruchal’s header to the rebound ball went wayward.
Sankata Club’s Bishnu Gurung said he was happy with the result and demanded patience. “It is my first time in the league and it will take some time to implement my tactics. Still, I am happy by the result,” Gurung said.

Himalayan Sherpa’s coach Yugal Kishor Rai said he was surprised by the opposition’s consistency. “We conceded through an error but overall it was a good game. They played a very disciplined game and I am also happy with my team’s tactical consistency,” said Rai.
