SAG to be hosted on schedule

Kathmandu, Nov 9: The government has decided to host the 13th edition of the South Asian Games (SAG) as per the schedule, from December 1 to 10, 2019, in Kathmandu and Pokhara.
The government representatives and Member Secretary of National Sports Council (NSC) Ramesh Kumar Silwal confirmed the hosting of SAG at the meeting of the South Asian Olympic Council (SAOC) on Saturday.
Member Secretary Silwal informed that the remaining part of under construction infrastructure would complete within next week. “All the participating nations had made confirmation with the Nepali government about their participation in the SAG on time,” member secretary Silwal said.
“The under-construction infrastructure would completed on time and we are ready to host SAG after two decades in Nepal,”
The representatives of all seven nations of the South Asian Olympic Council (SAOC) had confirmed their participation in the mega sporting event of the region during the South Asian Olympic Council (SAOC) meeting.
South Asian Olympic Council (SAOC) and National Olympic Council (NOC) president Jeveen Ram Shrestha said that the after the confirmation of Nepal government the others participating nation had agreed over the organization of the regional mega sports event.
“Now, we have prepared for the grand success of the event having a direct bearing on the national prestige,” Shrestha said.
South Asian Olympic Council (SAOC) had conducted the 2-day long meeting ahead of the South Asian Games. The meeting had reviewed the preparation of the SAG and the all members of the South Asian Olympic Council (SAOC) had visited the infrastructure sites built for the mega sporting event of the South Asia.
The meeting of South Asian Olympic Council (SAOC) has proposed Pakistan as a host of the 14th edition of the South Asian Games (SAG) it is the turn of Pakistan to host the next edition of SAG.
If Pakistan would be unable to host 14th edition of the SAG, then the Maldives and Sri Lanka would be hosting the event in 2021.
President of the all seven SAG member nations had participated in the meeting of South Asian Olympic Council (SAOC).
