Kathmandu, Sept 21: Nepal Police Club has been crowned the title of the National Men’s Volleyball after they beat Tribhuvan Army Club by 3-0 in the departmental derby in the capital on Saturday.
Police men registered a 25-22, 25-22 and 25-22 straight set comfortable victory over Army men in the departmental derby. Army men entered the court with their main spiker Man Bahadur Shrestha who had missed the title clash after suffering from injuries.
Army men Dhan Bahadur Bhatta was declared the Most Valuable Players of the Tournament and Bhatta received one motorcycle while Yam Chhetri of Gandaki Province received Best blocker and Kul Bahadur Thapa of Nepal Police Club received best spiker and his team member Em Rana Magar kissed best setter’s awards.
Similarly, Dwarika Thapa bagged the best server award, Bhim Magar grabbed the best defender’s title and Saroj Shrestha collected the award for the best coach.
The title winner Nepal Police Club walked away with Rs. 5, 00,000 and runner-up Army Club Rs. 3, 00,000 in cash prizes.
Similarly, the third-spot Gandaki State bagged Rs. 1, 00,000 and Armed Police Force (APF) won Rs. 50,000.
The title clash was postponed for Saturday after the heavy rain hit the title clash between Police man and Army men on last Tuesday without playing. Earlier, the match was postponed for the Tuesday after the rain hit the match during the third set of the tournament on Monday.
Police men secured their spot at the title clash after beating Armed Police Force (APF) and Army men thrashed Gandaki Province in the semi-finals of the Tournament.
A total of eight teams had participated in the tournament including three departmental sides.
