Pokhara Rhinos sign Chris Gayle for EPL

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Jan. 30: Renowned batsman of West Indies, Chris Gayle, will be participating in Everest Premier League (EPL), beginning on March 14, 2020.

Pokhara Rhinos have signed international batsman Gayle for EPL.

At a press meet in Kathmandu on Thursday, Pokhara Rhinos revealed that Gayle would be playing for the club in EPL.

Until now, Gayle has scored 15 centuries, 37 half centuries and has made 7,214 runs in 103 test matches.

He has also participated in 58 T20 internationals where, he scored two centuries, 13 half centuries and 1,627 runs with 142 strike rate.

Likewise, he has made 10,480 runs in 301 One Day International (ODI) matches.

Gayle has represented over 2 dozen clubs in T20 leagues.

On a message given to Nepali cricket fans, Gayle said that he would be visiting Nepal for EPL.

He also appealed to everyone to support Pokhara Rhinos.

Gayle has also represented Kings XI Punjab, Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The press meet confirmed that Gayle would be playing two T20 matches in the EPL.

Gayle’s visit is expected to increase Nepal's investment in developing cricket infrastructures.

We have been concerned about the security within and outside the stadium during Gayle's matches, said the organisers of EPL.

Until now, four international cricket players have been signed by different cricket teams in Nepal for EPL.

Hasim Amla, former South African Cricketer, has agreed to participate in the EPL. However, the team that he would be playing for has not been decided yet. Amla is a popular name in International cricket fraternity.

Likewise, Upul Tharanga of Sri Lanka has okayed to play for Lalitpur Patriots. Tharanga is an exemplary batsman of Sri Lankan cricket team. He has also been the captain of Sri Lankan cricket team in One Day Internationals (ODIs).

Another all-rounder of West Indies, Dwayne Smith has been signed by Bhairahawa Gladiators. The team reached to an agreement with Smith this week.

Also, Afghanistani wicket keeper batsman Mohammed Sahzad has agreed to come to Nepal to play for Chitwan Tigers in EPL.
