Kathmandu, Jan 17: An agreement has been reached among Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba to bring a bill relating to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) and the Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappeared Persons soon.

The leaders who met at the Prime Minister's official residence, Baluwatar this morning agreed to conclude the remaining works of peace process by bringing the bill through the ongoing House session, said NCP parliamentary party's deputy leader Subhash Nembang.

"The state-level discussions about the document and collection of submission in regard with it had been completed and it has been agreed to introduce the law in regard with the Commissions on the basis of suggestions received from the ongoing House session," he said.

According to Prime Minister's press advisor Surya Thapa, the meeting ended positively and the discussions would continue on Saturday as well.

NCP leaders Nembang, Khimlal Devkota and NC leaders Dr Minendra Rijal and Ramesh Lekhak were among those present in the meeting.

The twin commissions meant for dealing with the cases of human rights violations dating back to the conflict era are lying vacant for the past nine months, thus creating an impasse to conclude the remaining issues of peace process.

A committee has been formed under the coordination of former Chief Justice Om Prakash Mishra to recommend names to be appointed officials at both commissions. But, the committee is yet to give the names.
