Kathmandu, Nov 18: Nepal crashed out from the ACC Emerging Team Asia Cup 2019 after they suffered an 8-wicket defeat at the hands of Bangladesh in Dhaka on Monday.
Nepal ended its ACC Emerging Team Asia Cup 2019 after India thrashed Hong Kong by 120 runs in the last match of the group stage. Team India had also secured their spot at the semi-final as a first runner-up of the group ‘B’ while Nepal and Hong Kong had crashed out of the tournament.
Meanwhile Skipper Nazmul Shanto guided Bangladesh to the semi-final as a winner of the group ‘B’. Skipper Shanto hitt his individual half century in a huge victory for Bangladesh.
Skipper Shanto scored 59 runs off 56 balls that included 6 boundaries and 2 sixes while opener Naim Sheikh made 45 runs off 56 balls that included 6 boundaries and the middle order batsman Yasir Ali Chowdhury scored an unbeaten 18 and opener Soumya Sarkar contributed 11 in a huge victory of Bangladesh.
Karan KC and Sushan Bhari took one wicket apiece for Nepal.
Earlier, Sumon Khan and Syed Minhajul took three wickets while Tanvir Islam and Mahadi Hasan grabbed two wickets apiece for host Bangladesh.
Nepali batsmen failed to negotiate bowling of Bangladeshi bowlers as they were dismissed for 138. Home team won the toss and invited Nepal to bat first and Nepal scored 138 runs at the loss of all wickets in the 44.3 overs in the allocated 50 overs match.
Nepal made a poor start as its opening batsmen duo Kuhsal Bhurtel and skipper Gynendra Malla and others batsmen failed to perform well against Test playing Bangladesh.
Sompal Kami scored highest 38 runs for Nepal. Kami scored 38 runs off 63 balls that included one four and one six while Skipper Gynendra Malla scored second highest 22 runs off 27 balls that included four boundaries.
Similarly, Karan K.C scored 18 runs while Arif Sheikh 11 runs and opener Bhurtel scored 10 runs for Nepal.
Nepal is at the third spot of the league standing with 2 points from three matches. Now, Nepal to wait the result between India and Hong Kong for their spot at the semi-final.
