Kathmandu, Nov 29 : A lone goal from substitute Suman Lama helped Nepal Police Club register their first victory at Martyr’s Memorial A Division League following their 1-0 win over Jawalakhel Youth Club 1-0 at Dashrath Stadium, Kathmandu on Sunday.

Rup Bahadur Lama failed to put Jawalakhel ahead in the 39th minute. Police goalie Satrughan Kumar Chaudhary warded off Lama’s free-kick from a 30-yard.

Police squandered a chance in the 40th minute after unmarked striker Tej Tamang’s closed range strike was punched away by Jawalakhel’s goalie Tikendra Singh Thapa.
Custodian Thapa again rescued Jawalakhel with a punch save to Paswan’s strike in the 62nd minute from a 40-yard distance.

Paswan again missed another chance three minutes later as his fine header from outside the box rebounded from the first bar.

Jawalakhel’s Santa Bahadur followed the same suit as his header rebounded from the second pole in an open net in the 67th minute.

Lama, who replaced Buddha Bal Tamang in 51 minutes, broke the deadlock for Police in the 70th minute on his solo effort. Lama scored a stunning goal from the edge of the box in the acute pass off Paswan.

Police Coach Anant Thapa said all teams in this season are tough for them. “We are here for three points. We succeeded in it after Suman Lama’s goal. We also created a couple of goal-scoring chances against Jawalakhel.” Jawalakhel Coach Kishore K.C said they wanted a surprise result against Police but failed on it.

“I am happy with the performance of my boys. Police are successful on a counter attack,” Coach K.C said.

Brigade Boys Club will meet New Road Team in the first match and Tribhuvan Army Football Club will encounter defending champion Machhindra Football Club in the second match on Monday.
