By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, Jan 7: Relegation-threatened Himalayan Sherpa Club and Friends Club shared a point after they played a goalless draw at the on-going Martyr’s Memorial A Division League at Dashrath Stadium Kathmandu on Tuesday.

After the goalless draw, Sherpa have been sitting at 12^th spot with 3 points from 5 matches and Friends at the 13^th spot with 2 points from 5 matches.

Similarly, defending champions Manang Marshyandgi Club is leading the point table with 11 points from 5 matches and Saraswoti Youth Club is at bottom of the league standing with a zero point from 4 matches they played.

The match between Sherpa and Friends ended in the goalless draw despite both Sherpa and Friends making a couple of the scoring chances during the match but they failed to score.

Friends got the chances to take lead in the match after its player Uttam Rai failed to score from the six yard box after beating a Sherpa’s defender and he strike from close-range went wide.

Sherpa could not leave any impression in the first half however the team improved their performance in the second half and they created couple of scoring chances against Friends but all their efforts drew blank. Biswa Adhikari free kick was saved by Friends goalie Dev Limbu in the 59^th minute.

Suraj Hamal of Sherpa failed to provide first three points to his team after his strike in the one-versus-one against Friends goalie Limbu was punched away by Limbu in the 71^st minute.

Bisan Gurung of Sherpa failed to register the first win for his team after he failed to score in the open net after beating Friends goalie Limbu, his shot from the box went out in the dying minute of the match.

Sherpa’s mid-fielder Ulrich Siwe was declared the Man of the Match for his ball delivery during the match.

After a goalless draw, Friends’Brazilian Coach Marcus Dantan expressed, “We had to satisfy with one point in the must-win match of the league but we will do our best in the coming matches,” Coach Marcus said.

“The journey to the top six position is not an easy task for us but we are aiming to reach there by doing our best in the remaining matches,” Coach Marcus added.

Sherpa Coach Sanjib Budhathoki said that they had shared a point after the team failed to utilise the chances it got in the second half.

“We are under pressure to win the match and we played an attacking game as per our planning. We had found the couple of chances in the second half but we failed to score,” Coach Budhathoki said.

“Failing to scoring even in an open goalpost was bad luck of us. I also missed our main striker Bishwas Shrestha who has injured,” Coach Budhathoki added.

Three Star Club will take Brigade Boy Club in the first match and Chyasal Youth Club will encounter Nepal Police Club in the second match at Dashrath Stadium, Kathmandu on Wednesday.
