13th SAG: Women’s Cricket team of Nepal wins by 10 wickets

Nepal has made a victorious start in the women cricket held today under the 13th South Asian Games. The inauguration match under the Games was played at the cricket ground in Pokhara Stadium.    
Host Nepal pulled a huge 10 wickets win in the match against the Maldives. Maldives which won the toss and elected to bat first was contained by Nepal in mere 16 runs in 10.1 overs. Maldives lost their first wicket in seven runs followed by the second and third ones at 11 runs and the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh in 15 runs, and the remaining one in 16 runs.    
Hamja Niaz made nine runs and Hafsa Abdullah four runs for Maldives. The remaining Maldives players were out without making a single run. Nepal had given additional three runs.    
Chasing a victory target of 17 runs, Nepal achieved the target in the very first over. Kajal Shrestha who faced just five balls made 13 runs not-out. She hit three fours. Sita Magar who was in 'non-strike' did not have to face any ball after the Maldives bowler Sama Ali conceded four additional runs.    
Anjali Chand, who took six wickets in two maidens in 2.1 overs, was declared the 'Woman of the Match.' Karuna Bhandari took two wickets in two overs.
