By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Dec. 23: The Supreme Court has asked the government to furnish replies on why not release French national Charles Sobhraj who has been imprisoned for life.

Being convicted of murder, Sobhraj was sentenced to life.

Conducting a hearing on habeas corpus filed by Sobhraj, a single bench of Anil Kumar Sinha on Thursday demanded reasons from the government for not releasing Sobhraj from the jail.

The SC has ordered the government to submit reasons if any to not release Sobhraj from the prison through the office of the Attorney General within three days.

Sobhraj had registered habeas corpus on Wednesday demanding that he be released from the prison on account that he has completed the punishment given to him.
