By Rajan Raut, Humla, Mar. 18: Limi village residents of Namkha Rural Municipality Ward no. 6 in Humla district have chosen their ward representatives, chair and members, almost 2 months before the local level election which is scheduled for May 13.

As only candidates selected by the villagers will file nominations for the election, those chosen by the villagers will get elected unopposed.

A local of Limi village, Kunjok Tamang, said that a meeting of the villagers finalized the names of the ward chair and members of ward no. 6 of Namkha Rural Municipality.

The meeting of the locals selected Paljor Tamang for the post of ward chair unanimously.

"A joint meeting of the residents of Halji, Jang, and Til villages selected their representatives unanimously," said Tamang, "The local level election will only formalize our selection."

Although the ward chair has been repeated, the ward members are all new. Chhiring Tungdup Tamang from Halji village, Puti Tamang as woman member from Jang village and Tungdup Lama from Til village have been selected. As there are no Dalits in the ward, the reserved seat for that community will remain unfulfilled.

There are 541 voters in the ward. There are three polling booths in the ward. During the local polls, the voters of Limi will cast votes only for the Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson of the Rural Municipality as the ward Chair and members will be elected unopposed.

The meeting of the residents of Limi village is held at least once a year which decides on all aspects of life in the village. If any villagers aged above 16 and below 60 fail to show up in the meeting, he or she is fined as per their financial status.
