By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Feb. 27: Senior leader of the CPN (Unified Socialist) has said that any grant offered with conditions is not acceptable.

He said so while taking part in the discussion over the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) compact in the House of Representatives (HoR) on Sunday.

The former Prime Minister noted that cooperation between Nepal and the USA had a history of over seven decades but observed that the MCC was a web of conditions.

"We should take assistance but if the assistance has conditions, we should not take even a penny as assistance," he said.

"America has been providing us assistance for the last 70 years. We take the assistance provided by the USA. We welcome assistance that respects our sovereignty and self-respect for the prosperity of the country," said senior leader Khanal, "But, the MCC is a web of conditions. We reject those conditions. We take assistance, but if the assistance has conditions, we do need not a penny."
