By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Jan 13: Nepal and the UK are holding the first formal discussion tomorrow, Friday, on providing job opportunities to Nepali nurses in the UK.

Dandu Raj Ghimire, spokesperson of the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security, informed that the task forces formed by the governments of the two friendly countries are set to hold a formal dialogue on Friday over ways to send the Nepali nurses to the UK.

In response to the UK government's letter on the issue, the government of Nepal had sent a proposal to the UK government to initiate a discussion through task-forces of the two countries.

In line with the proposal of the government of Nepal, the UK has formed a task force headed by an officer at the British Embassy in Nepal.

Rajib Pokharel, joint secretary of the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security, will be heading the task force for the talks from the Nepal side.

Discussions will be held on the contract period, pay and perks of the workers, and the methods of selection.

If the discussion yields a fruitful conclusion, the UK will outsource nurses from Nepal, according to spokesperson Ghimire.
