Kathmandu, Feb. 18: The government has granted approval to the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security to advance the necessary process for the setup of labour hospital.

Disclosing the decisions of the February 17 cabinet meeting at a press conference here today, Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, also the government spokesperson, shared the information.

Minster Karki further shared that the government decided to grant authority to the Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Population to sign a tripartite agreement for the implementation of Global Funds Programme 2021-24 aimed at preventing and controlling AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.

Also, the government decided to approve Drugs Registration (Fourth Amendment) Regulation, 2078 and Nepal Medical Council (Fifth Amendment) Regulation, 2078, Minister Karki shared.

Likewise, the cabinet decided to accept the World Bank's loan assistance of USD 18 million (approximately Rs 2 billion) for the COVID-19 Rapid Response and Public Health Risk Preparedness Project.

As informed, the government accepted the resignation tendered by Rastriya Beema Samiti Board Chair Gangaram Kandel and appointed Ramesh Kumar Hamal as the Chairperson of Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON). The cabinet also decided to suspend Chief Executive Officer of Timber Corporation Nepal Rameswor Bhattarai.

According to the Spokesperson, the government decided to approve Renewable Energy Grant Policy, 2078 and also took the decision to amend Annex 1 of Civil Offense Work Procedure Code, 2074
