Education Minister pledges teachers facilities on par with civil employees

Baglung, Feb. 7: Minister for Education, Science and Technology Devendra Poudel assured that teacher in public schools would be provided facilities in par with civil employees.

Stating that teachers should be entitled to facilities and perks as other civil employees, Minister Poudel shared that his Ministry had already decided on the same and the decision would come into effect from the next fiscal year’s budget.

The Minister shared so at an interaction organized by Tarakhola rural municipality in Baglung on Monday. During the interaction, Minister Poudel also pledged that a technical institution would be set up at Tarakhola rural municipality under the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT).

Furthermore, he said a well-equipped library will be built in the locality at the initiative of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.

He also vowed to take forward the process for internal promotion of the teachers halted for nearly 18 years by announcing the vacancy. “Once the Teachers Service Commission’s 11th Amendment Rules is approved by the Council of Ministers, all the process relating to adjustment for teachers’ vacancy, internal promotion and teaching licenses among others would take a pace,” the Minister viewed.

Minister Poudel said that his Ministry was serious about the 33-points demands put forth by the Nepal Teachers’ Federation and many demands were being addressed as well.

He mentioned that he had 55-point plan for public education reforms. According to him, formulation of Federal Education Act, High Education Act and Technical Education Act was completed and preparation was afoot to take it to the council of ministers’ meeting for the needful action.
