By Prem Adhikari, Pashupatinagar (Ilam), Mar. 25: Durga Prasad Timsina (Deepak) of Mai Municipality-10 is receiving citizenship today.

The District Administration Office, Ilam, has made arrangements to provide a citizenship certificate to Timsina, who was recently released after serving 40 years in Jail in Dum Dum Correctional Home.

Even though Timsina was born in 2017 BS, he did not have a birth certificate or citizenship until now. As citizenship is necessary for Timsina's treatment and to fulfill other procedures for compensation, the DAO is coordinating to provide Timsina with the certificate at the earliest.

The Mai Municipality-10 office had readied all the necessary documents on Wednesday itself.

Even though Timsina was known as Deepak Jaisi during his stay in India, his citizenship is being issued in the name Durga Prasad Timsina.

Dhruba Bahadur Khadka, Chief District Officer of Ilam, said, "As the Province 1 government has committed to bear all the treatment costs, citizenship is required for the process. Thus, we will initiate the compensation and treatment procedure after providing citizenship to Timsina."

He said, "Preparations have been made to provide treatment in whichever hospital Timsina's family selects."

CDO Khadka informed that the officials of DAO had visited Tmsina's home on Tuesday for necessary coordination.
