By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Dec. 30: The ongoing General Convention of the CPN (Maoist Center) is likely to extend beyond the previously set five-day period as only 22 out of 25 groups formed to deliberate on party Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda's report have completed their presentation so far.

The convention was to conclude today, but processes for electing new leadership is yet to start and it will start only after all the group leaders present the conclusion of their discussion over the report in the ongoing closed session.

Dev Prasad Gurung, a standing committee member of the party, informed only 22 groups have so far presented the conclusion of their discussion so far.

Bishnu Pukar Shrestha, chief of the central election commission of the party, who is also coordinating discussion over the reports by the representatives from central commissions of the party, said the General Convention could extend until tomorrow.

Shrestha said the election process would start if there was no consensus on electing the new leadership of the party.

Chair Prachanda had presented his political report on Monday, December, 26 the second of the General Convention, and on the same day, leader Dev Prasad Gurung had also presented amendment draft relating to the party statute. The groups were formed to study the reports and present the conclusions of the group discussion.
