FALKLANDS MARITIME HERITAGE TRUST The wreck of Antarctic explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton's ship, Endurance, which has not been seen since it was crushed by ice and sank in the Weddell Sea in 1915, has been discovered in remarkable condition. Scientists located and filmed the shipwreck 3km (10,000ft) underwater. "Without any exaggeration, this is the finest wooden shipwreck I have ever seen - by far," said marine archaeologist Mensun Bound, who was on the discovery expedition.
