By TRN Online, Kathmandu, July 18: With the beginning of the month of Saun (July-August) married and unmarried females are seen drawing Mehendi art over their palms and wrists in Kathmandu streets.

According to Hindu belief, the fourth month (Saun) of the lunar calendar has been marked as a month devoted to Lord Shiva. In this month married and unmarried females observe a fast every Monday this month. Similarly, females also eat the only vegeterian food items throughout the month.

The married women keep fast for a longer life of their husbands whereas the unmarried females pray to Lord Shiva for the best match.
