Bajura people compelled to use risky bridge overflowed by the Budhi Ganga

By Sher Bahadur Sarki, Bajura, July 6:  Locals have faced difficulty to cross the Budhi Ganga River as the suspension bridge over the river that flows through Taprisera, Budhiganga Municipality-2 and Bangapata, Triveni Municipality-9 has been inundated by the river that swells whenever it rains.

The river has started flowing over the bridge in the middle part of it due to incessant rain on July 4 that increased the water level in the river. This has created great difficulty for the locals of Triveni and Budhi Ganga municipalities to cross the river.

Deepak Saud, a local of Triveni Municipality-9, said, "This bridge has made it easy to cross the locals of Bangapata, Tamsu, Feragada, Malal Gaun, Jhalgaun of Triveni. Now as the river has submerged middle parts of the bridge, it has become really difficult and dangerous to cross the river."

"River water starts flowing over the bridge when it rains even a little during rainy season and it creates problems for the locals to cross the river," he added.

The bridge falls along the main path of majority of Triveni locals for daily works and there is no alternative way. Hence, people have been compelled to use the risky bridge for their mobility.

Hira Thapa, ward chair of Budhi Ganga Municipality-2, said that some big physical infrastructure that were made for ease of the locals had been turned useless or damaged completely by natural disasters and it was impossible for the ward to build them.

"We have made a plan to construct a new bridge near the present one after a while in cooperation with other related agencies in the district," said Thapa.
