Beauty Of Spring

Parmeshwar Devkota

As a man in his traditional attire can easily be identified in which community he belongs to, a season can also be known by seeing the condition of a plant. If a tree is blooming, there is high probability that it must be a spring season.

If you happen to walk across the Open Air Theatre in the heart of capital city, you can see a blooming peach tree at the right corner of the Old Bus Park. It has been drawing the attention of commuters and passers-by. The blooming peach tree is the proof that spring, the king of all seasons, has arrived.

If you minutely observe surrounding environment, you can realise significant changes from some week onwards because we are about to forget the shivering cold of the winter. If you get up early in the morning, the sky remains clear and fresh without dust particles, and hills around the Kathmandu Valley seem coming closer to you from their place, thanks to beautiful spring.

So, the morning vista of the rising sun and amazing scene of mountains around Kathmandu Valley cannot be explained in the words. The soothing breeze and the chirping of birds are equally sweet and pleasing.

As the coronavirus cases are receding in this part of the world and the vernal season is approaching nearer, the streets of Kathmandu Valley are teeming with the college-going students and joggers. Shopkeepers, who are seen enthusiastic to open their shops early in the morning, inspire the city dwellers to be more active and creative.
If you happen to visit patches of farms on the outskirts of Kathmandu, you can find the crops of wheat, barley and potato growing fast. As the wind blows across a farm field, they swing to pleasure of the viewers.

With the falling COVID-19 cases, the life has returned to normal. Tea shops are seen packed with customers without wearing heavy warm clothes such as jackets and sweaters. The youths are heard making plans for picnics, hiking and visiting new places. The elderly citizens have also started gathering at public places as they used to do so a few years back.

There are news reports that the hotels and lodges located on the outskirts of Kathmandu Valley have witnessed growing number of visitors. This shows that the spring is going to bring tremendous happiness to the people, because unlike previous years, they have been heaved a sigh of relief from the COVID pandemic.

For around two years, the people had to live under restrictive order and now they are eager for going outings. And spring is an ideal period for them to relish the beauties and wonders of nature.
If you turn lazy and don’t visit a desired place, you are likely to miss the joy of spring. This is a reason why Anita Krizzan says: ‘spring will come and so will happiness. Hold on. Life will get warmer.’
