Kathmandu, Aug 18: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said unity among democratic forces is a must to meet the goals of peace, good governance and development.
Delivering his views on the issue of public importance in a meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) today, the Prime Minister echoed the need of unity among democratic forces, as he said, to overcome some traditional regressive forces attempting to jeopardise democracy.
"The incumbent government is committed to preventing criminal offences and taking tough action against those indulged in corruption and tax evasion, keeping the people's supremacy intact," the Prime Minister apprised the Lower House.
Stating that the new formation of Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Commission on Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons would take place within a week, he said there was a target of building 869 houses for those affected by floods and landslides. He claimed the
House impasse would prove a hard luck in enforcing the constitution drafted on the basis of inclusive and proportional representation and keeping people happy.
As he said, processes had begun to bring those responsible for encroaching on public and Guthi land under the purview of law and reclaiming the ownership of public land occupied illegally.
"Enactment of laws is on the progress, the government is committed to peace and security, the economic growth rate remains at seven percent, the projects of national pride are being implemented at an accelerated pace and a commitment in writing has been made with ministries concerned to conclude all development endevours within in the deadline," he informed the House.
