Kathmandu, Apr. 24: With the increasing cases of COVID-19 every passing day, Nepal has reported 47 cases with two new ones Thursday. The Ministry of Health and Population has confirmed two new cases of COVID-19 today.
According to Spokesperson at the ministry, Dr Bikash Devkota, a 55-year-old woman whose sample was collected from Udayapur district has tested positive for the coronavirus. Likewise, a 14-year-old boy from Janakpur has been infected with the virus.
Their samples were tested at the National Public Health Laboratory in Kathmandu through Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) method.
Likewise, two COVID-19 patients of Suncity Apartment at Kageshwori Manohara Municipality-9, who had been receiving treatment at Patan Hospital, have been discharged after recovery, said Dr Devkota.
According to our Dhangadhi correspondent, a 65-year-old woman who was receiving treatment at Dhangadhi Hospital got discharged and returned home on Thursday.
According to the latest update, 10 COVID-19 infected patients have been discharged from the designated hospitals as of Thursday. Earlier, seven COVID-19 patients had returned home after testing negative for the virus.
As per the latest update, 37 are receiving treatment at various designated hospitals and their health status is normal as of today.
9,199 tests conducted through PCR
According to the ministry, a total of 3,305 sample tests were carried out within 24 hours through PCR and RDT methods.
Likewise, 34,523 tests have been conducted through Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) and 9,199 sample tests through PCR for the COVID-19 till date. So far, 43,722 tests have been conducted through both methods as of Thursday.
According to the latest update, 3,092 tests were carried out in State 1, while in State 2 a total of 4,529 tests were conducted, in Bagmati State 6,155, in Gandaki State 4,555 and in State 5 a total of 2,756 tests were carried out. Likewise, 4,735 tests were conducted in Karnali State and 8,201 tests were conducted in Sudhurpachhim State.
Meanwhile, 86 coronavirus suspects have been admitted to isolation wards of various hospitals. Among them, four are receiving treatment at isolation wards of Kathmandu-based hospitals.
According to Dr Devkota, 10,573 were in quarantine throughout the nation on Thursday.
