Team monitors human rights situation

Kathmandu, April 28 : Monitoring of human rights situation during the global pandemic of coronavirus has been started.    
A team comprising Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) Kathmandu district president Shantaram Bidari, Kathmandu District Bar Association president Jagadish Ghimire and the NGO Federation Kathmandu president Pradip Dangol monitored the human rights situation in Kathmandu district as per the mandate provided by the National Human Rights Commission.    
According to Bidari, the team monitored the works being carried out by the government, the health care situation, consumers rights, right to expression, access to justice and state services, citizens responsibilities and the status of other human rights amidst the COVID-19 pandemic in all the ten municipalities in Kathmandu, including in the Kathmandu Metropolitan City.    
He said the team has been conducting study, monitoring, follow-up and facilitation through its various mechanisms, adding the NHRC has been contacted and coordinated with for facilitating in addressing the problems seen at the local level.
