Kathmandu, Aug 29: National flag carrier Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has operated commercial flights to Osaka of Japan from today. NAC will operate direct flights to Osaka with wide-body 'A' 3030 aircraft for the first time, according to the Nepal Airlines Corporation.
Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Yogesh Bhattarai, formally inaugurated the flight this morning by cutting a cake. Rastriya Samachar Samiti Correspondent CB Adhikari said that the plane flew at 2:30 am will reach Osaka after six and half hours.
Making a brief speech in course of the flight inauguration, Minister Bhattarai said that flight to Osaka is a revolutionary stride for Nepal. Executive Chairperson of NAC, Madan Kharel, said that the flight to Osaka has been operated targeting Visit Nepal Year-2020.
Japanese Ambassador to Nepal, Masamichi Saigo was also present on the occasion. A total of 149 people including State Minister for Tourism, Dhan Bahadur Budha, six lawmakers, high officials of the Ministry, and representatives of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal were on board.
The NAC has now set one-way air fare to Kathmandu-Osaka has been determined Rs 36,999 and Rs 72,814 for two-way fare.
