Mahottari praises placement of country's encroached lands in national emblem

Mahottari, June 19 :  Residents of Mahottari district have been celebrating the Constitution (Second Amendment) which updates Schedule 3 of the constitution with the placement of the country's new map in the Coat-of-Arms of Nepal. The new political and administrative map issued by the government recently incorporates Nepal's territories encroached upon by India. Limpiyadhura, Lipulek and Kalapani area in Darchula district had been encroached by India.    
People from various walks of life including political parties and intellectuals have lauded unity among political parties at the House of Representatives and National Assembly in amending country's constitution to replace the old map with the new one in the coat of arms of Nepal.    
President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Thursday authenticated the proposal to amend the constitution after its unopposed approval from both houses of the federal parliament.    
The House of Representatives passed the amendment proposal with two-thirds majority on June 13 and the National Assembly on June 18. The national coat of arms include Nepal's territories, Kalapani, Lipulek and Limpiyadhura encroached by India.    
"There are our concerns that the constitution fails to address issues of Madhes. But, there are our concerns on the encroachment of nation's lands anywhere. There is a message that our whole nation is united on this line," said Nagendra Prasad Yadav, district chairperson of the Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal (JSPN), which has been long demanding the amendment of the constitution to address issues of Madhes.    
There is a need for such unity to incorporate concerns of Madhes in the constitution, he said. Now the government should sit down for talks with India to take ownership of the encroached lands, he said. Unity of all parties at the federal parliament on the issue of national concern would make a strong basis for Nepal to have strong presence in talks with India, said leader of JSPN Sanjib Kumar Sah, also mayor of Bhangaha municipality.    
Publication of country's political map incorporating its encroached lands and unity of all political parties to create national coat of arms including these encroached territories have given a positive message to the world, said leader of Nepali Congress, Mahottari, Bajaranga Nepali.    
District Secretary of Nepal Communist Party, Saukhilal Yadav, said that the success got by the incumbent government in building unity among political parties to constitution amendment to issue new map incorporating encroached land is historic    
He further said that the unity forged among all political parties for constitution amendment in order to issue a new map is the strength for the government in discussion to be held with India.    
Lawyer Uddhav Chhetri said that the government should take decisive diplomatic initiatives to make India prepare for talks taking the national unity as its strength.    
Campus Chief of Bardibas Janata Multiple Campus, Top Bahadur Thakuri, shared that the unity forged in the parliament to include encroached land in official map and to amend constitution to incorporate it in Coats of Arms is the matter of pride and historic.    
Intellectuals determined that the unity seen among all political parties at the Federal Parliament has reduced criticism to each other.    
Chandra Narayan Singh of Bhangaha, a retired school headmaster, said the unity seen among political parties seen in the Parliament over constitution amendment for Coats of Arms has reduced their bitterness.    
Singh further said that government’s initiatives to maintain this unity. General people of rural settlement of the district are also found positive about this recent movement of the government.
