Kathmandu, Jan 19 : Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Padma Kumari Aryal has said farmers would be provided identity card showing their category. The card will help the distribution of agriculture related programmes, she believed.
At a programme organized with office bearers of All Nepal Women Association and women representatives in the federal capital on Monday, Minister Aryal said, "We categorize farmers and run agriculture programmes by providing them identity cards. This scheme will be intensified after a month."
Minister Aryal further said the Farmers' Commission established for the rights of farmers would be made powerful because it does not meet the target in the existing situation. She further said the programmes allocated for grant via the ministry would be reformed. However, some of such programmes which are not giving good result are in need of immediate termination, she stressed.
According to her, the Ministry has forwarded the process to ensure availability of chemical fertilizer. The local levels across the country were asked to inform about the demand of chemical fertilizers by mid February.
On the occasion, Minister of State for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Bimala BK, said her ministry would facilitate the programmes to be run for women.
