By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Aug. 25: Former Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal has verified his name and signature for CNP (Unified Socialist) through the Embassy of Nepal in New Delhi.
Leader Khanal has been recuperating after undergoing a renal transplant at a hospital in the Indian Capital City.
Lawmaker Birodh Khatiwada said that leader Khanal provided verification of his name and signature through the embassy for registering the new political party at the Election Commission, Nepal, Chaired by Madhav Kumar Nepal, former Prime Minister who deserted the CPN-UML to form a new party after a year-long intra-party feud.
The Commission has called all the lawmakers and central committee members of the CPN-UML in-person who wanted to form a new party-CPN (Unified Socialist)-for verification.
As per an ordinance issued recently any faction of a political party can split from the mother party and form a new one if the faction has at least either 20 per cent of the central committee members or the lawmakers in the federal parliament.
