Kathmandu, Mar. 29: The Guthi Sansthan of Kathmandu has begun the process to build Seto Machhindranath chariot at Tindhara Pathshala near Jamal.
A four-wheel and 32-foot tall wooden chariot is pulled during the festival time. The chariot is built in the shape of a temple.

The 1142th Seto Machhindranath Chariot Procession Management Committee has begun preparations for the festival to begin from April 9.
The committee has also begun maintaining and managing the procession route to pull the chariot smoothly.

Aandha Karmacharya, chief of Guthi Sansthan of Kathmandu, said that it has allocated around Rs. 1 million for this year’s festival. Required fresh wooden logs would be brought after a technical team calculates the requirement for wood.
The Seto (White) Machhindranath is a widely venerated deity of the Kathmandu Valley and its chariot is towed around the city in a grand celebration lasting from three to seven days.
According to legend, Machhindranath was the teacher of Gorakhnath.
The Jatra of Seto Machhindranath is believed to have begun in 595 A.D.
