By Janarjan Khatri, Sarlahi, March 27: Two of the four people killed in a bus accident at Phuljor in Sarlahi along the East-West Highway on Sunday have been identified.

Four persons were killed when a passenger bus (Na 4 Kha 8555) heading for Janakpur from Birgunj fell off a bridge at Phuljor River on the border of Lalbandi Municipality and Ishworpur Municipality at around 11 am on Sunday.

32 people were injured in the accident. Of the dead, only two have been identified as of Sunday afternoon. The deceased have been identified as Sharmila Karki Shrestha, 30, of Tinpatan Rural Municipality-2, Sindhuli and Sunil Yadav, 24. 

Sharmila's three-month-old daughter Awasi Shrestha was injured in the accident. She is undergoing treatment at Lalbandi-based Model Hospital, police said. The other two are yet to be identified, police said. Attempts are being made to identify the other two, said Nirmal Thapa, Inspector at the Area Police Office, Lalbandi.

According to Inspector Thapa, the bodies of the four have been kept at the Provincial Hospital, Malangawa for postmortem. Out of the 32 passengers injured in the accident, 10 in critical condition have been referred to Kathmandu, Birgunj, Bardibas and other places while 22 others with minor injuries are undergoing treatment at different hospitals in Lalbandi, according to Lalbandi Police.

The spokesperson of Sarlahi Police, Deputy Superintendent of Police Madhav Prasad Budhathoki said that an investigation was underway into the bus accident.
