By Purna Prasad Mishra, Kathmandu, Dec 4: Most of the participants are expected to join the conference, going to be organised to inform the international community about the experiences and lessons learnt by Nepal in the post-earthquake reconstruction task, through zoom.

Coordinator of the conference organising committee and executive committee member of the National Reconstruction Authority, Dr Chandra Bahadur Shrestha told RSS that number of people participating physically in the conference has started decreasing due to 'Omicron', a new variant of coronavirus.

"Earlier, the number of people coming from different countries to attend the conference was 50. Now it has decreased to 10. The number of people to attend the conference physically started decreasing due to Omicron. Though all participants could not present physically, all of them will attend the conference through zoom. Participation of 200 foreign experts through zoom has been confirmed", he shared.

However, 100 foreigners working in different foreign missions in Nepal would physically attend the conference. There would be 20 sessions at the conference.

According to the NRA, all preparations for the conference has reached the final phase. The NRA is organising the three-day international conference from December 7 in Kathmandu under the slogan 'From Reconstruction to Upliftment'. A website www.icnr.nra.gov.np has been launched targeting the conference. All the information related to the conference has been kept on the website.

It is expected that the conference would help meet the target of establishing Nepal as a disaster-free country within 2030.

The conference will have separate sessions on how political parties, media and donor agencies have been looking at the post-earthquake reconstruction. The NRA has requested those willing to participate in the conference to register their names on the website through an online medium.
