NEPSE rebounds by 56.73 points

By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, Dec. 21: The stock market, which has been declining for several days, saw double-digit growth on Tuesday.

The benchmark of the stock market index, NEPSE, went up by 56.73 points (2.41 per cent) to close at 2,415.55 points today. The NEPSE index had declined by 17.93 points on Monday.

 The sensitive index, which measures the performance of group ‘A’ companies, also increased by 11.34 points (2.51 per cent) to close at 462.52 points.

The sub-indices of all groups increased significantly in today’s transaction.

Sub-index of life insurance group saw the highest growth of 206.58 points followed by non-life insurance and manufacturing and processing group whose indices increased by 204.34 points and 170.1 points respectively.

The sub-index of the non-life insurance group had decreased by 170.19 points and life insurance by 106.02 points on Monday.

Similarly, the sub-index of the development bank group increased by 137.88 points, hydropower by 94.51 points, microfinance by 90.71 points and others by 70.49 points today.

The sub-index of hotels and tourism went up by 54.03 points, trading by 69.82 points, banking by 32.91 points, finance by 37.92 points, investment by 1.42 points and mutual fund by 0.12 points.

Despite the rise in the NEPSE index, the transaction amount did not increase. It was less than that of Monday.

A total of 4,974,253 shares worth Rs. 2.38 billion of 226 companies were sold in 34,217 transactions today.

On Monday, a total of 5,439,087 shares worth Rs. 2.46 billion were sold.

The share price of Green Development Bank recorded the highest growth of 10 per cent, followed by Janaki Finance by 9.81 per cent and Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Company by 9.21 per cent.

Similarly, the share price of Green Life Hydropower increased by 8.26 per cent, Reliance Finance by 7.93 per cent and Mountain Energy Nepal by 7.38 per cent.

However, the share price of Gurkhas Finance fell by 8.89 per cent, Nabil Balance Fund-2 by 3.52 per cent and Terhathum Power Company by 3.26 per cent.
