Kathmandu, Oct. 26: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba said on Monday that the government would soon set the date for the elections to the National Assembly seats which will become vacant in March next year.
The Prime Minister said this during a meeting with the officials of the Election Commission today.
The Prime Minister also said the government would reach a decision about the upcoming local level elections and by-elections for the vacant seats in the House of Representatives and the provincial assemblies by consulting with the ruling coalition and other political parties.

The Prime Minister also clarified that the government would support all efforts to improve the voting system and make the process of registering one’s name in the electoral roll more efficient.
He also informed the Election Commission Nepal that the government would push forward the procedures related to the integrated election law.
The Election Commission officials had met with Prime Minister Deuba to discuss time table and logistics for elections of various levels.

Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya and Commissioners Ishwori Prasad Paudyal, Ram Prasad Bhandari, Dr. Janaki Kumari Tuladhar and Sagun Shumsher JB Rana reached Baluwatar to meet the Prime Minister today.
As per a statement issued by the Commission, Prime Minister Deuba also asked the constitutional body to make the polls technology-friendly and introduce provisions to allow Nepalis living abroad to vote.

Minister for Home Affairs Bal Krishna Khand, Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Pampha Bhusal, Minister for Communication and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki and Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Dilendra Prasad Badu along with Secretary of the Election Commission Suresh Adhikari were present in the meeting.
