Dhanusha, Sept 28: State 2 Chief Minister Lalbabu Raut said on Saturday that open border with India had increased challenges for peace and security in the state. Addressing the two-day 'state level security seminar', the Chief Minister said all districts in the state shared open boarder with India and it posed challenges for security efforts.
"Mitigation of criminal activities is possible if a security mechanism was put into place in coordination and cooperation of federal, state and local levels." Stating that security was the first responsibility of the government, he stressed that all should contribute for the same from their respective sides.
In the seminar jointly organised by the Home Ministry and State 2 Internal Affairs and Law Ministry, Inspector General of Nepal Police Sarbendra Khanal said the objective of the programme was to find a common understanding among security bodies so as to meet main security goal and a solution to existing problems.
Armed Police Force Inspector General Shailendra Khanal, National Investigation Department Chief Ganesh Adhikari, Nepal Army's division chief Naresh Chandra Bhatta and security advisor to the Home Minister, Indrajeet Rai were present in the meeting.
Chief district officers from all eight districts, Superintendents of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force, NA officials and the National Investigation Department chief participated in the seminar.
