Kathmandu, Oct. 3: Nepal Oil Corporation, the monopoly petroleum supplier, has managed for the smooth distribution of fuel during the public holiday of Dashain festival.
“We have managed to distribute fuel on Saturday and Sunday that are the Dashain holidays to ensure smooth supply of fuel during the festival period,” said Birendra Goit, spokesman at Nepal Oil Corporation.
He said that the NOC has managed to deploy the employees in all depots on the holidays of Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday to supply fuel,” he said.
He said that all depots are in ready position to supply fuel to address the problem of fuel shortage if any.
Goit said that there would not be shortage of fuel across the country as the NOC has sufficient stocks of fuel.
“We have already requested the dealers to collect fuel from the depots to meet the demand for the holidays. We are ready to deliver fuel to the dealers as per their demand,” he said.
Demand of fuel, including diesel, petrol, cooking gas and aviation fuel will increase by around 20-30 per cent in the festival period than in the normal period, he said.
With the starting of festival, NOC is distributing around 800 KL of petrol in the Kathmandu Valley daily while it used to supply only 500 KL a day on other days, he said.
He said that there will not be shortage of cooking gas in the festival period as the NOC has already issued purchase delivery order for 40,000 tonnes of cooking gas for this month.
“The consumers will get fuel easily in the festival. So they need not to keep fuel in stock fearing its shortage,” he said.
