Kathmandu, Oct 15: The Department of Foreign Affairs of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP)'s said on Tuesday that the recent visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Nepal was successful in further enhancing Nepal's image in the international arena.
The Department in its meeting today reviewed the two-day visit of the Chinese President and concluded that the visit was a success.
President Xi visited Nepal on October 12 and 13 at the invitation of President Bidya Devi Bhandari.
According to the Deputy Chief of the Department, Bishnu Rijal, the visit was assessed to be of long-term importance and a milestone for the development of Nepal.
President Xi had pledged a grant of 3.5 billion RMB equivalent to Rs 56 billion over the next two years to bolster bilateral cooperation in the field of transport, agriculture, industry commerce and supply.
Various 18 MoUs and two letters of exchange were signed in the presence of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and President Xi on the concluding day of Xi's visit and were aimed at boosting the bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
Department Chief Madhav Kumar Nepal said that Nepal had proved its calibre that it could host the Head of the State of one of the powerful countries of the world.
Nepal, also former Prime Minister, opined that the Chinese President's visit had helped enable environment conducive for investment and augmented international attention and concerns towards Nepal.
Stating that the visit had also aided promotion of the Visit Nepal Year 2020 campaign, he underscored eagerness and activeness of the concerned agencies of the government to implement all the agreements signed during the Chinese President's visit.
In attendance in the meeting were Dr Yubaraj Shangraula, Milan Tuladhar, Dr Rupak Sapkota and Matrika Poudel among others who had presented their respective views on the visit by the Chinese Head of State.
