NC to begin election campaign from today

Kathmandu. Mar. 13: Nepali Congress (NC) spokesperson Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat urged the party’s rank and file to be engaged in publicity with confidence to secure victory in the upcoming local, province and federal elections.

Speaking at a training programme organised by NC Kathmandu-5 constituency committee on Saturday, he said the NC would go to election with programmes of development and prosperity as per people’s aspirations.
The party is scheduled to start election campaign from Sunday with slogan of “Go door-to-door to ensure NC’s victory”.

Dr. Mahat underlined the need to remove confusion originating from the Communists for the development in matters concerning the implementing the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).
Likewise, NC is scheduled to launch election campaign from Sunday targeting local level election. Prime Minister and NC president Sher Bahadur Deuba is scheduled to inaugurate the campaign on Sunday. NC vice president Purna Bahadur Khadka informed that it would be the first phase campaign for the election.

The campaign would be launched by mobilising central representatives in 77 districts at the same time.
One-month-long campaign would inform voters about the party’s agenda and the party will collect suggestions from citizens, informed Khadka.

Dr. Mahat said the party have eight agenda for this campaign that would appeal people to use their democratic right by casting vote.
The party would be highlighting political as well economic achievement made under its leadership, as well as corruption, unconstitutional activities and other bad practices that happened during three tenures of earthwhile communist government.

The party’s local level election manifesto writing committee is drafting its manifesto to make public for the election.
Meanwhile, Yogendra Panjiyar has been elected to NC Dhanusa district president.

Defeating Santosh Yadav, he secured victory from second-round election. According to our Dhalkebar correspondent, Panjiyar secured 1,735 votes while Yadav garnered 1,046.
