Kathmandu, Oct 2: The Federal Parliament Secretariat has issued a notice relating to the resignation tendered by Krishna Bahadur Mahara from the post of Speaker of the Federal Parliament. Mahara had tendered his resignation on Tuesday after a parliament secretariat employee accused him of raping her.
Information was shared about the resignation through a notice as the parliament session is not taking place at the moment.
Meanwhile, deputy speaker Dr Shiva Maya Tumbahangphe shared that political parties would hold a discussion with the government to agree on the procedure of electing the Speaker through the regular session or a special session. Prior to this, Mahara had been elected unanimously to the post of speaker of the House of Representatives.
