Lalitpur, Oct 26 (RSS): Nepali Congress (NC) Vice President Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar has said the concept of a single State of entire Madhesh would not serve country's interest.
In his address to a festival reception organised at Godawari municipality today, the NC Vice President said, "The party is always above my personal level; the Madhesh is more important than the party; the nation is more important than the Madhesh, and prosperity was unachievable by dividing the nation." As he said, entire Madhesh for single State was not the interest of the party.
He said he was presently not in the position but in the party as he, who had fought for the rights of Tharu and ethnic communities personally, believed that he should fight for the overall interest of the nation.
The former Deputy Prime Minister said, "I am playing a constructive role for the prevention of market price hike and corruption as the NC Vice President." The NC which had faced a defeat in past elections was committed to restoring its position as the largest party in the upcoming election.
He asserted that a new generation should have respect to seniors and should not forget their contribution. The NC Vice President urged the youth to follow a disciplined course and contribute to nation building.
Lalitpur NC president Madan Bahadur Amatya urged party cadres to think beyond the individual benefits and contribute to the promotion of democratic culture.
Former Minister of State for Finance Uday Shamser Rana, municipality mayor Gajendra Maharjan and deputy mayor Muna Adhikari put their views on the occasion.
