By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Aug. 28: The government has decided to add 6,201 beds in the public hospitals under the federal, provincial and local governments across the country.

The government decision comes amidst widespread complaint about the lack of beds in public hospitals at this critical time of COVID-19 pandemic when new cases of infection are also on the rise in Nepal.

According to Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), about a thousand beds will be added in hospitals under the federal government, 1,957 beds in the hospital under provincial governments and 3,245 beds in the hospitals under the local levels.

He said human resources will also be managed along with the beds.

According to the MoHP, there are no hospitals in 649 local levels. The government has decided to arrange for a 5-bed hospital along with necessary human resources in such places.
