Kathmandu, Dec. 30: The Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, has arrested eight individuals on charge of raping a 34-year-old woman in the capital.
According to the senior officers, seven individuals were arrested by Tuesday night while the eighth was arrested on Wednesday.
“The incident came to light on Tuesday evening when the victim reached the police at New Buspark. As soon as she informed about it, she was sent to Paropakar Maternity and Women's Hospital for health checkup,” said Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sudip Giri.

After it, police started investigating into the statements provided by the victim. SSP Giri informed that there are nine accused of which eight were already in police net.
The seven individuals arrested Tuesday have been identified as Yubraj Baduwal, Hikmat Nepali, Ratan Nepali, Suresh Sejuwal, Dipak Nepali, Shiva Hari Budha and Gopal Kumar Shris. One more was arrested on Wednesday.
The 34-year-old had arrived in Kathmandu on Monday in search of job. She was new in the city and was unaware of where to go when she met Baduwal. He lured her to a guest house in Mitranagar, an area in Ward No. 26 in Kathmandu Metropolis.

The victim claimed that she was raped by nine individuals between Monday night and Tuesday by taking her to different guest houses.
“Among the arrested individuals, some had come to Kathmandu to make passport, others to apply for jobs abroad and some were preparing to leave for abroad,” said SSP Giri.
“The victim is still not capable of answering all questions of investigation. We are in contact with the doctors and have kept an eye on her. More things are yet to be revealed but it will take some time,” SSP Giri added.
Police had tailed the man who had lured the victim through CCTV footages because the victim was unaware of where she was taken to.

“We shortlisted some places after seeing the CCTV footage. We then found one of the guest house and some individuals and it later helped us in finding others,” said SSP Giri.
Talking to The Rising Nepal, SSP Giri also informed that the ninth individual was already identified and would be nabbed soon.
Judicial custody has also been sought from the Kathmandu District Court against the arrested for further investigation.
Police is also awaiting medical reports of the victim as well as the arrested individuals.
