Kathmandu, Oct. 6: Dashain is a festival of unity and reunion Nepali people have been celebrating for a long time, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has noted in his Bada Dashain greetings.
“It is a festival celebrated with extreme cordiality and friendship by meeting relatives and neighbours and exchanging greetings with them. It is a festival of humanity in which we receive blessings from our elders and give younger ones our blessings and love,” PM Oli said in his message to the Nepalis living everywhere.
“On the occasion of the great and traditional festival of Bada Dashain, of us, the Nepalis, I want to express my cordial and auspicious greetings to all brothers and sisters living in the country and outside it.”
Calling on all to celebrate the festival in a grand manner possible, PM Oli, however, said, “It is necessary for us to break some bad practices that are prevalent in the name of tradition. Pay attention to health, friendship, social peace, not affecting the neighbour adversely. It is necessary to pay attention to letting the festival to contribute to spreading love, affection and goodwill among relatives and neighbours the way it has been contributing to our social harmony and good social management over the past. It is also necessary to pay attention to not allowing the festival to be more expensive than one’s capacity to spend and not making it an occasion to show off.”
Today, we are on a journey to prosperity after concluding our movement for political rights, PM Oli said. “In this journey to prosperity, we also have the onus to develop our society into a civilised, friendly and peaceful society, full of humanity, into a well-informed society. It is equally necessary we all pay attention to this need.”
Offering his best wishes for the Bada Dashain, he said, “We are on a campaign to fulfil our national aspiration for Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali. May this Dashain inspire us in this campaign.”
