By Keshab Raj Poudel, Kathmandu, Feb. 23: People of Mandandeupur Municipality-11 of Kavrepalanchowk district have stated opting for mulching technology in farming.

Following the shortage of farmers, the denizens started being attracted to mulching technology as it requires less human resources and irrigation.

Kashinath Neupane, a local farmer of Mandandeupur had welcomed the farming to the area for the first time. He said that he introduced mulching farming by being inspired from the tech used in farming in Makwanpur and Dhading districts.

Mulching in farming is a practice of covering the topsoil surface with organic materials like straw, grass, stones inorganic materials like plastics, etc. Mulching is a process of reducing the evaporation, to keep down weeds.

Farmers including Neupane, however, have been complaining that they were not receiving any grant from the government to use technology in agriculture.
