Wind destroys crops worth Rs 20 million in Makawanpur

Hetauda, April 20 : Wind coupled with hailstones that hit some rural areas of Makawanpur district since two days ago destroyed agro yields worth approximately Rs 20 million, according to the Agriculture Knowledge Centre, Hetauda.    
Vegetable production such as ladies' fingers, bitter gourd, bottle gourd, pumpkin, cabbage, sponge gourd and spring bean have been destroyed in the disaster, the Centre informed. However, details of the loss are yet to come by, it added. Similarly, the strong wind also inflicted damages to 250 houses at Manohari rural municipality, said the rural municipality.    
It blew away roofs of the houses. The settlements at the municipality-5 have been most affected by the disaster, said the ward chair Ekraj Upreti. The district police are collecting details of the losses, he said.
