Kathmandu, Jan. 25: Owing to the rapid surge in COVID-19 cases, the government has closed the cinema theatres indefinitely. However, the government has allowed the shooting of movies by adopting the COVID-19 safety guidelines.
Utilising this provision, Lakhey is being shot in the Kathmandu Valley from the second week of January.

A big budget movie, Samrat Basnet’s Lakhey has multiple stars. Director Basnet has said that the film is being shot by making two units as there are many cast in the film.

“It's very difficult for a director to work with two units at the same time,” said director Basnet.
It requires two sets and more technical units, which adds financial burden to the producer, Basnet said.

However, the producers are ready to bear the additional financial burden, he added.
“Making two units for film shooting is a big hassle apart from increasing the financial burden,” said executive producer Hari Malla Thakuri.

The important thing is the safety of the artistes and the entire unit, added Thakuri.
“We are going to make a film with a budget of over Rs. 50 million. But the cost is likely to increase further as we are shooting the moving by making two separate units,” he added.
The film, being made under the banner of Global Media and Research Center and Orion Productions, is produced by Sijan Aryal.

Presented by Ganesh Malla Thakuri and produced by Hari Malla Thakuri, the film has the artistes, including Saugat Malla, Anup Bikram Shahi, Aryan Adhikari, Arpan Thapa, Sushil Sitaula, Bijay Baral, Barsha Raut, Sunil Thapa, Raksha Budhathoki, Ajay Pant, Umesh Sunam, Rupesh Jha, Chakra Bahadur Bista, Sujan A. Pariyar, Shravan Kumar Rana, Rajan Bhujel, Anbisha Khadgi and child artist Sistam Bhandari.
