Surkhet, April 20 : Two mosques in Surkhet have halted religious activities around one month following the enforcement of nationwide lockdown over coronavirus. No religious activities would be allowed at the mosques in Birendranagar-10 from Sunday onward, according to a statement issued by Phakir Bax, chairperson of the Madina Study Centre, Surkhet.
The mosques have also banned for recitation of Namaz en masse. Stating that arrangements would be made for the Muslim community to recite Namaz at home, the Centre appealed to the religious community not to unnecessarily gather at mosques. "We appeal to all to abide by lockdown imposed by the government to prevent and control COVID-19. We are ready to provide space at Madarasas to set up quarantines if need be," read the statement. There are two mosques in the district.
