Kathmandu, May 19 : National Assembly members have said that the government has fulfilled its commitment towards its policy and programmes by releasing a new geographical map of Nepal by incorporating Limpiyadhura, Lipulekh and Kalapani areas.
Taking part in today's deliberation on policy and programme brought by the government for coming fiscal year 2020/21, leader of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP), Dinanath Sharma, argued that issuing the new map has proved that the incumbent government is committed towards nationality.
A cabinet meeting held on Monday had released the new map of the country by including Limpiyadhura, Lipulekh and Kalapani areas at a time when there is border dispute between Nepal and India.
“The opposition party has said that the policy and programme should be rewritten. It is not the responsible role of the opposition. I urge the opposition party to withdraw the call for amendment to the policy and programmes presented in the federal parlaiment.”
Leader Sharma said the international communities have lauded the initiatives taken by the government to prevent and control COVID-19.
Similarly, Nepali Congress leader Radheshyam Adhikari said that releasing the new map of the country by incorporating Limpiyadhura, Lipulek and Kalapani areas is appropriate. He argued that the policy and programme failed to give priority to health, education, agro and economic aspects, adding the policy and programme should be amended.
Discussion is underway on the policy and programmes brought by the government for coming fiscal year 2020/21. It was presented by President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Friday. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is scheduled to respond to the session today itself once the discussion concludes.
