By Deepak Prasad Gautam, Birgunj, May 3: Bachha Ansari, resident of Isanath Municipality-8, Rautahat who was discharged from Narayani hospital on April 26 after recovering from COVID-19 has been re-admitted to the hospital.

He had been hospitalised on April 14 after being diagnosed with COVID-19 infection. He was discharged on April 26 after testing negative for the virus in last three PCR tests.

As Ansari's PCR report in cross-check after being discharged from the hospital came out suspicious, we've again admitted him and he has been receiving treatment in isolation, said Dr. Madan Upadhyaya, Medical Superintendent of the hospital.

"Ansari's swab sample reported positive for the virus in a PCR test carried out at the National Public Health Laboratory (NPHL), Teku after he was discharged from the hospital," said Dr. Upadhyaya. "After the suspicious PCR test report, the health workers collected his swab again."

Dr. Upadhyaya said that the re-collected swab sample again reported positive for the virus. We then admitted him to the hospital for further treatment, he added.

Likewise, swab sample for PCR test of other three Indian nationals who were discharged on the same day as Ansari have been sent to the NPHL for re-test.

Being declared free from COVID-19 on April 26 by the hospital, Ansari had returned to his normal life in Rautahat.

Three health workers had collected his cough, sneeze and blood samples on Wednesday and he was again admitted to hospital on Saturday.

Informing that the test report of other three Indians discharged along with Ansari was erroneous, the NPHL has directed Narayani hospital to admit all three of them, a source of the hospital verified.

The swab sample of 13 family members and other relatives was also sent to National Public Health Laboratory, Teku, where only Ansari tested positive.

Ansari is admitted to Hospital for follow up, the follow up routine would continue from weeks to 77 days, said a doctor of the hospital, requesting anonymity.

The other three residents of India who were discharged from hospital on April 26 have been quarantined at their residence in Chapaya Municipality-2, Birjung.
