Bhuwan KC to contest for KMC mayor

Kathmandu, Apr. 7: Bhuwan KC is set to stand for the mayorship of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC).
The actor is set to stand as a candidate in the upcoming local election from the led Unnat Loktantra Party (Advanced Democratic Party).
Issuing a statement, Chairman Swagat Nepal informed that the party’s central committee decided on Tuesday to present KC as its official candidate for the position of mayor of KMC. Similarly, it decided to field Reshma Lama for the position of deputy mayor.

If they win in the election, the party plans to provide free electricity, water, health services and education and would look into managing residences for the landless people by formulating policies based on the findings of a study conducted by an expert council comprising doctors, engineers, lawyers, sociologists and economists. The party expects KC to create a liveable Kathmandu, reads the statement.

The statement adds that the two candidates will not spend a single rupee to influence voters. It also informs that the election symbol for KC is a book.
Lately, artists and celebrities have been preparing for the local election, scheduled for May 13, and some have joined political parties too. A few days ago, actress Karishma Manandhar joined CPN (UML).
