Kathmandu, Sept 9: Three pinnacles were found in course of demolishing a roof of the Jayabageshwori Temple for rebuild works.
According to the Pashupati Area Development Trust, the historic objects reflecting the Pagoda style, the feature of Lichhavi era, were recovered recently after the second roof of the temple was demolished.
The temple was damaged by the April 25 earthquake in 2015. Earlier, none including the Trust, Department of Archeology and other bodies concerned were aware of it.
The preliminary study suggests that the temple was one-storied in the beginning and two more storeys were added later, said Officer at the Department of Archaeology, Amrita Maharjan.
Though the temple was believed to be built during the Lichhavi period, no stone inscriptions suggesting it has been found on the temple premises.
The newly found objects have been protected well and now the renovation works have been ceased. A team of experts from the PADT and Department is studying about them. (RSS)
